Brussels, 07/02/2019 – The New Year brings new political challenges in Brussels.
On the 6th of February, the TUI Group Corporate Office EU welcomed old and new friends at its offices for a New Year’s Drink. The informal drink brought together many key stakeholders of the transport and tourism sector in the EU, and enabled TUI to reconfirm the good ties with its network, laying the foundation for a cooperative engagement in the future.
The evening followed a Tuscan theme, inspired by the Toscana Resort Castelfalfi, offering local food and wine from TUI’s own organic production. TUI made use of the occasion to inform guests of its sustainability strategy, TUI Care Foundation projects and the importance of sustainable development in tourism. Raising awareness of the importance of the tourism sector and its social and economic benefits to the EU, will be a crucial task in the next couple of months building up to the European elections in May.
The guest of honour, Mr Nicola Danti, Member of the European Parliament, provided opening remarks and gave insights into the positive effects of tourism in his home country Italy. Thereafter, Mr Ralf Pastleitner, Director International Public Policy & EU Affairs, provided complementary remarks on TUI’s efforts to fulfil its responsibilities as the world’s leading tourism business.
